‘We love because He first loved us’ - 1 John 4:19

The church aims to have outreach and mission at the heart of what it does, and we seek to serve people practically and share the hope that can be found in Jesus. We currently have the following outreach ministries:

Global Mission Group:

St Mark’s also cares about mission further afield and has sent out, and is currently supporting, missionaries in Asia.

Robes project:

Since 2004, St Mark’s has participated with other local churches in the ‘Robes’ project, to provide food and overnight accommodation to homeless people in the area during the winter period. Every Wednesday night through to Thursday morning during the winter, we host up to 20 men and women in Montgomery Hall.

Street Pastors:

A number of our congregation work with Street Pastors in South London to offer practical and emotional support to people out and about in our area on a Friday and Saturday night.

Holiday club:

Since 2011, St Mark’s has run a week’s summer holiday club for children from the church and local schools. These were supported by a large cross-section of the church and children from local primary schools.

Community lunches:

The church puts on regular lunches for everyone within our area – come and join us every 3rd Wednesday of the month in Montgomery Hall at 1pm.

Many members of St Mark’s make weekly donations by bringing non-perishable items to church which are then given to the Vauxhall Food Bank. They sort and distribute the items to people in our community who are struggling to make ends meet and need some support with gifts of food.

Resurgo Spear:

St Mark’s is working in partnership with Resurgo Spear, a charity working with young people aged 16-24 who need support to get into work or further training. Spear has 8 centres across London, one of which runs from St Mark’s at Montgomery Hall. The team of Sam, Hannah and Becky work with groups of young people running 6 week courses which prepare the young people for employment. They learn about CV writing, interview technique, and attitude and behaviour required by employers. If you or someone you know would like to attend the course, contact the church office. Or if you would be able to volunteer your time and skills to be a mock interviewer, please also get in touch with the church office.
